Junction City Little Theater

Specific Need

Junction City Little Theater is one of the longest active running community theaters in Kansas.  JCLT began in 1949, with the vision and guidance of Bettina Coover, a vibrant and imaginative woman who became an integral part of every community she joined. In 1955, Coover, Betty Cleary, Mona Kessinger and Alma Hornbaker signed the documents of incorporation which created the Junction City Little Theater Inc.  JCLT began as a volunteer ran business and remains the same today.  A fifteen member board of directors governs JCLT.

Early productions were staged at the Ladies Reading Club, in schools, auditoriums, and churches.  In 1960, the Little Theater began its long tenure at the 18th Street location In Junction City.  In 2008, the Little Theater transitioned to the newly renovated C.L. Hoover Opera House, where it opened its 301st production, Meredith Wilson’s “The Music Man”.  They continue to call the Opera House "home" to their productions.

Junction City Little Theater produces a variety of live theater for the community, with four main stage shows a year.  Match Day contributions will help meet our needs as we continue to opporate our office in the C.L.H.O.H., pay for show licensing, and purchase/upkeep our technical equipment.

Office hours are Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 9:00am – 2:00pm. If you have any questions or concerns please call our office 785-238-3871, e-mail us at jcltoffice@gmail.com or check our website JCLITTLETHEATER.ORG
