Goal: $30,000.00
Specific Need
The funds deposited in the Dorothy Bramlage Public Library Foundation are currently dedicated to expanding and remodeling the current library building so we may better serve the residents of the Junction City/Fort Riley/Geary County area.
Mission
The purpose of the Dorothy Bramlage Public Library Foundation is to raise awareness of the services and benefits of the Dorothy Bramlage Public Library, organize persons who are interested in promoting and maintaining the use and wellbeing of the library , and to raise funds to support the library for the expansion of collections, services, and facilities.
Profile
The library is an active place with a vibrant service that has and will continue to evolve to meet the current needs of community members. Literacy-based, informational and recreational programs are provided for all ages. In fact, the Library provides services to community members throughout their entire life span; from providing a complimentary boardbook to every newborn at the local hospital to a homebound delivery service for senior citizens and others. It is also a community hub for meetings and gatherings, small and large, and a central point of community information including the Community Information Directory, Community Calendar, Community Resource Guide, Geary County Food Resources, and the Community History Archive with its digitized, searchable local newspaper and high school yearbook collections.
An expanded building would add and improve a number of essential services including:
- A dedicated teen space separate from that currently devoted to services for younger children.
- Additional space for youth services overall.
- The addition of a children's activity room.
- The addition of small meeting spaces/study rooms.
- Additional program and meeting space overall
- Space that could serve as a storm shelter
- Outdoor program space.
- The addition of staff workrooms.
- Improvements in infrastructure (windows, doorways, etc) to increase energy effciency and reduce operating cost
- The addition of a generator so services can be maintained in the events of an emergency.
With your support, we will achieve these goals and continue our ongoing efforts to grow and evolve libary and information services to meet the changing needs of our community.
